A core value for Space for Arts and each member of our team is community. We believe that to truly be part of any community one should contribute to the community giving back to it for the benefit of all. To this end, SfA works to regularly organize talks, workshops and colloquia for members of the professional photo and production community.
This past weekend, thanks to the leadership of our Board member Barbara Griffin, SfA together with its local partners; APA-Atlanta, Atlanta Celebrates Photography and supported by SpinStyle hosted “An Evening with Art Streiber & Michele Romero”. Art and Michele discussed their long-standing collaboration which has produced numerous Entertainment Weekly covers, features and iconic images.
Following their presentation, they joined over 150 members of the local photo and production community for more casual conversation all taking place in one of SfA’s Atlanta studios, TreeHouse. On Saturday, Art gave a full day Master Class “The Big Picture; Career Management & Marketing “ for 70 additional local professionals at another SfA studio, Atlanta Daylight Studio.
Art & Michele reviewed a number of images which they created together for Entertainment Weekly. Together they took the audience on a deep dive behind the scenes, unpacking the creative process and challenges faced in each shoot. They also discussed the photo research and inspiration for each shoot. The images ranged from Entertainment Weekly’s stories covering the Walking Dead, a shoot of Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her role as Laurie Strode in Halloween, and on a lighter note shooting Key & Peele as guest editors for EW.
On Saturday, Art started by diving into the background, preparation and process behind his recent shoot for the cover of Variety with Lady Gaga.
Moving from the practicality and details of shoot to the intricacies of managing a photographer’s own business and brand. Art offered practical, actionable advice to help photographers promote their work across all media to reach their target audience of photo directors and art buyers.
